December 6, 2018 - On December 6, 1989, 14 women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal were murdered simply because they were born women.

December 4, 2018 - The USW is pleased to work with Local 1944 to offer Shop Steward Level 1 courses in Montreal and Rimouski. The rescheduled Montreal course will now be held March 25–26, 2019 and the rescheduled Rimouski course will be held March 28–29, 2019.

November 30, 2018 - During the District 5 Conference, Local 1944 was proud to make a $5,000 donation to the locked-out ABI workers from USW Local 9700.

November 23, 2018 - November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which marks the beginning of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence in Canada.

November 9, 2018 - Remembrance Day marks the observance of the end of the first World War on November 11, 1918, with the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany, one hundred years ago.

November 8, 2018 - Today, November 8, marks the second anniversary of Shaw Cablesystems illegally laying off 54 of our members in violation of the collective agreement.

October 26, 2018 - In an effort to improve interaction with our members, we are excited to announce that a new USW Local 1944 web site has been launched.

October 3, 2018 - October 4 is the National Day to commemorate Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (hereafter MMIWG).
