Project for United Membership Action

Description

The Project for United Membership Action (PUMA) is a permanent structure put in place by USW Local 1944, a network of activists that will coordinate workplace campaigns and communicate important and sometimes critical information to our members in a quick and effective manner. It is also a channel for members to provide information from your workplace back to the Local Union leaders. By using this two-way flow of communication method, we ensure that no member is left behind when they need information, or when we need to take action in a workplace campaign or during bargaining. The membership’s active involvement directly equates to our strength at the bargaining table.

Structure of the PUMA Network

The PUMA Network is composed of activists from across the country, called Primes, organized in a manner such to structurize the two-way flow of communication within the Local. The Local is divided into seven different regions, each covered by a Regional Prime, and each region divided into (existing) Units.
