December 7, 2018 - The deadline to apply to the new District 6 Mentorship Program is Monday, December 31, 2018. This program is meant to increase exchanges between Steelworkers, by pairing up Leaners with Mentors – both are volunteer roles. The pair is expected to commit for 12 months and to hold a monthly conversation about issues arising from the Learner’s local.
A Learner is a Steelworker looking to expand their skill set. The learner will be picking the topics which they feel they need a more experienced perspective on.
A Mentor is an experienced Steelworker who will assist a Learner through discussion. Members of SOAR are welcome to apply as mentors.
Both Learners and Mentors will take part in a two-day orientation session, with expenses covered by the Mentoring Program, and will provide periodic feedback to the District 6 USW Mentoring Program Coordinator. To reflect the USW membership, members who are NextGen, women, workers of colour, Aboriginal, LGBTQ2SIA+, or living with a disability are strongly encouraged to send their application.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and network with other Steelworkers! Find more information and the application form online. You can also email mentoring@usw.ca or call USW D6 Mentorship Program Coordinator Eric Delparte at (705) 207-1691.
