Revised International Executive Board nomination submission deadline – Sept 7th

August 24, 2021 - On July 19th, Local 1944 issued a bulletin stating that the USW International Executive Board nomination process had begun, and that the deadline for a member to submit the name of a candidate for nomination to any International Executive Board position was August 6th.

President’s Message: B.C. Wildfires

August 19, 2021 - As you may know, at this time, there are more than 260 active fires throughout British Columbia, and 31 are considered wildfires of concern. Thousands of people are under evacuation orders, and even more are under evacuation alert, and must be ready to evacuate at any time.

Virtual Shop Steward Level 1 Training: New dates in September

August 10, 2021 - USW Local 1944 has been providing multiple steward training classes every month since March, is continuing to do so to meet demand. As members keep lining up to help protect their rights and those of their coworkers by getting trained, a new set of three courses is now being scheduled for September. These sessions will be held in English only.

July 19, 2021 - The United Steelworkers is conducting an election for the positions of the International Executive Board. As part of the election process your Local Union will use remote electronic voting to nominate candidates for International President, International Secretary-Treasurer, International Vice President (Administration), International Vice President (Human Affairs), Canadian National Director, International Vice President at Large, International Vice President and Directors of USW Districts 3, 5 and 6.
