September 29, 2017 - On Sunday, October 1, 2017, we celebrate the older generations, the men and women who paved the way for the labour movement as we know it.

September 29, 2017 - District 6’s Next Generation is a program to inspire and educate young members of our great union. We need to build up our NextGen members so we can honour our strong past, protect our present and aim to make our union vibrant, viable and relevant for the future. A great way to do this is to educate and train our NextGen members to be great mobilizers, activists and campaigners.

September 27, 2017 - Yesterday, members of the USW Local 1944 conducted nominations for the 2017 USW International Elections.

The nominations were conducted by secret ballot through telephone and internet voting. Results were verified through Intelivote Systems Inc. The results of the nomination vote are as follows:

September 25, 2017 - Tomorrow is the USW International Election nomination vote and you are invited to determine our Local’s Nominee for each office to be filled.

September 20, 2017 - Over the past week, USW Local 1944 members should have received a package containing voting instructions and a unique PIN for the upcoming USW International Election nomination vote on September 26th.

September 13, 2017 - In July, the union formally requested assistance from the Federal Minister of Labour by filing for conciliation in an effort to reach a respectful renewed collective agreement for our members at Shaw Abbotsford.

September 13, 2017 - The next election of the USW International Officers and District Directors will be held on November 21st, 2017.

September 11, 2017 - Are you prepared to provide a unique perspective to our Local to ensure that Millennials and Post-Millennials and the issues they face in workplaces across Canada are properly represented?

September 6, 2017 - Over 180 employees who work at Freedom Mobile’s call centre in Windsor, Ontario voted to join the our union earlier this year.

September 5, 2017 - USW Local 1944 – Unit 51 (Burnaby) is celebrating World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2017, by producing themed purple t-shirts that are Union-made in Canada, with the assistance of participating Telus leadership. Proceeds will be going to the Amanda Todd Legacy Society Fund.
