November 20, 2017 - From now until December 6th, 2017, USW Local 1944 Women of Steel Committee in the Lower Mainland will be gathering and distributing items and food to the more than one-hundred less fortunate friends and neighbours who are living in tents in Downtown Surrey, BC.
The temperatures are already dropping below zero and the shelters are full and overflowing. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the items we are looking for: food, juice boxes, mandarin oranges, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene products, gloves, toques... We will also be preparing lunch bags for distribution.
November 17, 2017 - The initiative "Be More Than a Bystander" is organized by the Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) in partnership with the BC Lions. It aims at increasing awareness and understanding about the impact of men's violence against women, and since 2011, the program has already trained over 100,000 people in British Columbia. This year, USW District 3 is partnering to "Break the Silence".
November 15, 2017 - All eligible members are currently receiving an important voter package in the mail for the upcoming Local Union Bylaw Ratification Vote on Tuesday, November 21st. Voting will be held by electronic ballot (internet and telephone) and your voter package contains a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will be required to cast your vote.
November 10, 2017 - November 11, 1918 marked the end of the first World War by the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany.
Every year, on November 11th, we honour and remember the incredible courage and sacrifice of the Canadian sisters and brothers who went to war to protect our democracy, safety and freedom. They were ordinary Canadians who made extraordinary sacrifices.

November 7, 2017 - The Board of Trustees of the Telecommunications Workers Pension Plan (TWPP) approved a 3.50% pension increase for all members who retired prior to January 1, 2010.
