November 10, 2017 - November 11, 1918 marked the end of the first World War by the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany.

Every year, on November 11th, we honour and remember the incredible courage and sacrifice of the Canadian sisters and brothers who went to war to protect our democracy, safety and freedom. They were ordinary Canadians who made extraordinary sacrifices.

"On Remembrance Day, we are not just wearing poppies," said Lee Riggs, National President of USW Local 1944. "We are thankful to all our women and men, past and present, in defending Canada and maintaining peace in the world. We acknowledge their sacrifice and we cherish the preciousness of the peace they fought and still fight hard to achieve."

USW Local 1944 invites our members to mark two minutes of silence at 11:00 am tomorrow, a time of reflection to honour, thank and remember those who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.
