November 20, 2017 - Tomorrow, Tuesday November 21st, 2017, members of USW Local 1944 will be voting for the 2017 Local Union Bylaw Ratification.
The vote will be occurring by electronic ballot, between the hours of 5:00 am and 5:00 pm (Pacific Time).
We remind our members that the full language of the proposed Bylaws changes is available online.
The Local's National Executive Council strongly recommends the ratification of the proposed Bylaws changes. Please refer to the dedicated Hotline to have a better understanding of the benefits of each proposed Bylaws change.
The six ballots correspond to the following proposed changes:
Ballot #1: Removal of the Bylaws, Finance, Education and Solidarity Committees
Ballot #2: Removal of the Bargaining Local Annual Delegated Meeting
Ballot #3: Removal of the minimum number of National Executive Council meetings per year from the Bylaws
Ballot #4: Removal of the Local-specific oath language for Elected Officers and for the President
Ballot #5: Removal of Unit Sick Committee language
Ballot #6: Reduction of the frequency of Local Annual Delegated Meetings from every year to every 3 years
In order for a resolution to be passed, it requires a 66-2/3% majority of the votes cast.
