Addressing CEO Darren Entwistle's Request Regarding Mobile Data Use
The Union is compelled to address a troubling communication from CEO Darren Entwistle that was sent on September 24th.
Telus is now requesting that our members restrict their mobile data usage to free up network traffic for other customers— another absurd move by an employer with little respect for working people.
On this day, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to work toward ending all forms of racism. Despite progress over the decades, the battle against racial discrimination continues, particularly for Indigenous peoples, racialised, and religious minority communities across Canada.

When the committee met earlier this month, we went through every survey individually and were able to clearly identify the topics and themes that matter most to you. That allowed us to focus our proposals and finalize what we will be seeking to make as improvements when we meet with the Company.
Your elected Bargaining Committee met the last 2 days of January to begin their preparations for the upcoming round of bargaining. Please take a few moments to fill in the attached survey so that the Committee can best represent you at the bargaining table.
Once again this year, the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) will host students from across BC at their Winter School at Harrison Hot Springs from January 15 to 20, 2023.
Once again this year, the Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL), in partnership with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), will be hosting students from across Alberta at their Winter School at Jasper Park Lodge from January 9-13, 2023. USW Local 1944 calls for members to submit applications to attend, from which only a few will be selected.
Several exciting topics will be discussed, such as Collective Bargaining, Conflict Management, Labour History, Standing in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and more.
Every year on April 28, we recognize the National Day of Mourning across Canada. This day is dedicated to remembering and honouring those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job. This year it hits especially close to our Local. It will have been 16 days since we lost our Brother Keith Murphy to a fatal workplace accident.
June 30, 2021 - Members’ children graduating from high school and registering in any post-secondary public institution have one month leftto submit their application and seize the financial opportunity of a USW Local 1944 scholarship! There are 3 scholarships of $750 and 4 scholarships of $1,000.
March 2, 2020 - On Sunday, February 23, 2020, Unit 63 members from the Stratcom certification attended a ratification meeting in Vancouver, BC.
Results of the ratification vote for the renewal USW Local 1944 Stratcom Collective Agreement have been tabulated and the agreement has been ratified. It will be signed by the Local Union and the Company and will be effective, upon signing, from December 1, 2019 to November 30, 2022.
