Today, Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, USW Local 1944 conducted the Election of Local Union Officers and Unit Officials 2024. Voting ran from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm (Pacific Time) by electronic ballot using Intelivote.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, members of the USW Local 1944 will be electing the Local Union Officers and Unit Officials.

September 18, 2020 - September 30 marks the one year anniversary of IBEW 213 members on strike against Ledcor LTS for a fair contract and dignity. Ledcor has acted shamefully in not engaging in respectful bargaining with these workers, join us in sending them a message that enough is enough, get back to the table and respect workers and our community. There are three ways for you to take action: 

September 9, 2020 - Local 1944 is organizing a #photocontest1944 to honour all Telecom Workers. Members of Local 1944 have until September 15, 2020 to send their pictures at 1944.fyi/photocon-2020
September 4, 2020 - Canada is changing rapidly, with automation drastically altering the country’s economy and workforce. Low wages and unsafe working conditions seem to be the norm. Workers feel they cannot compete, and they fear that they can easily be replaced if they complain.
August 26, 2020 - The Women of Steel Committee has been working on a series of four Special Publications addressing common mental health issues, including burnout. We are releasing one publication each month. All four publications are inter-linked and ready now if you wish to read ahead for further information.

August 20, 2020 - As mentioned in the Acting President’s Message of August 19, 2020, Local 1944 is about to begin the process of electing members of the Local 1944 – Telus Bargaining Committee, and Unit Delegates to the Local Union Delegated Meeting, taking place March 16-18, 2021. Nominations for both sets of positions will take place at 3rd quarter Unit Meetings which occur throughout September and October, and the election will take place by electronic ballot, on a one-member-one-vote basis, November 20, 2020.
