November 9, 2018 - Remembrance Day marks the observance of the end of the first World War on November 11, 1918, with the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany, one hundred years ago.
By wearing poppies on Remembrance Day, we express our thanks to the more than 2.3 million Canadians who have served our country, and all those who defended or defend Canada by maintaining international peace over the last hundred years. We cherish the democracy, safety and freedom that they protected thanks to their courage.
Veterans of Steel
Veterans of Steel is a USW program that aims at providing resources, camaraderie and support to those who served or are serving our country. USW Local 1944 encourages our military veteran members to fill out the online form to get more information about this program. You can also simply text VET to 32323 (standard message and data rates may apply).
This Sunday, Local 1944 invites our members to take a time of reflection, attend a ceremony, and take the time to seek out a veteran to let them know that we stand with them in solidarity. Lest We Forget.
In Solidarity,
USW Local 1944
