The New Collective Agreement has been Ratified for Shaw Abbotsford Unit 60 Members

October 12, 2017 - USW Local 1944 congratulates our members from Unit 60 for ratifying a new collective agreement with Shaw Cablesystems.

Local Union Representative for Unit 60 Jennifer Bucholtz stated: “Throughout the past six months, our Bargaining Committee has been working relentlessly in the pursuit of counteracting Shaw’s attempts to lower the workers’ interests. We have been negotiating a collective agreement that respects the rights of our members.”

The new collective agreement includes:

  • $1,000 signing bonus;
  • lump sum payment of 2.5% in 2017;
  • lump sum payment of 2.5% in 2018;
  • 1.75% wage increase in 2019;
  • 3-year agreement.

81.25% of our Shaw Abbotsford members voted in favour of ratification. A copy of your new collective agreement, which will be in effect from October 13, 2017, will be available at your reporting station once the printing process is completed.

“A vast majority of our Unit 60 members participated in the vote today and, thanks to their high level of engagement, we are confident in our capacity to further negotiate the working conditions with Shaw in the near future,” said Lee Riggs, National President of USW Local 1944.
