June 29, 2018 - Canada Day is a time of celebration from coast to coast.Today we celebrate the 151st anniversary of Canada as we know it, since the signing of Confederation on July 1, 1867. We celebrate our culture, our diverse communities, and our values as Canadian citizens.
On this day, calling Canada home is something we can be proud of. We live in a forward-thinking country whose natural beauty and vibrant cities are only surpassed by its imaginative and multicultural people. As we reflect on Canada's diverse history and achievements, we acknowledge our fellow Canadians and imagine what our collective future can hold.
As we celebrate Canada Day, let's renew our Local's commitment towards inclusivity and acceptance within our workplaces. The fight for gender parity and racial equity must take place on a daily-basis, and it takes the commitment of us all to improve working conditions for everyone. Local 1944 is proud of the diversity of our members.
Please check the list of events held throughout Canada to celebrate our nation's 151st birthday.
