July 19, 2017 - Yesterday, the union formally requested assistance from the Federal Minister of Labour by filing for conciliation in an effort to reach a renewed collective agreement for our members at Shaw Abbotsford.

The Union has been bargaining with Shaw since early March for the agreement that expired March 31, 2017.

"Shaw has put forward a number of concessionary proposals that will hurt our members," stated Lee Riggs, USW Local 1944 National President. "The union has put forward a package that is reasonable and respectful. Shaw has the resources to reach a fair deal, but once again they have forced us down the path of conciliation."
