Cast your nomination vote for the USW International Election

September 13, 2017 - The next election of the USW International Officers and District Directors will be held on November 21st, 2017.

Each Local Union has the right to nominate one member for each office to be filled. USW Local 1944 members will be participating in both the nomination and election process.

In August, our member were invited to submit the names of any eligible USW members that they wished to see placed on a ballot that would determine our Local’s nominee for each office to be filled.

By the deadline for submitting names, one name had been submitted as a potential nominee for each office to be filled. When only one name has been submitted, members are able to vote “Yes” or “No” for whether the name submitted should be our Local’s nominee for an office to be filled (or a member may skip the question).

Members will now vote by electronic balloting via the internet or by telephone, for who, if anyone, our Local should nominate for each office.

Eligible members will receive a voting package in the mail containing a unique PIN. Packages should arrive by Friday, September 22. A sample voting package can be viewed here.

Voting will take place on Tuesday, September 26 between 5:00 am and 5:00 pm (Pacific Time). Please follow the instructions in your voting package.

If you require assistance, a Voter HelpLine has been setup. USW National Local 1944 members may contact the Voter HelpLine at 1-888-281-8683, weekdays from September 21 to September 25, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm (PT) and September 26 from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm (PT).

An eligible USW member will only be placed on the election ballot in November if they are nominated by the required number of Locals.

Thank you for taking part in our Union’s democratic process.

In Solidarity,

United Steelworkers Local 1944
