Business Solutions VSP's

Once again Telus has announced another round of VSP's, offering them to about 400 members nationally within the Telus Business Solutions and the Small-Medium Business 100 team—which handles accounts with fewer than 100 lines. As well, VSP's have been offered to approximately 80 members of SAMT and 80 members of SQET-5044, two of Telus’ Unions in Quebec.

With employees across the globe, it comes as no surprise to us at Local 1944 that overseas workers at Telus are unionizing for collective bargaining agreements that will secure their workers’ rights. Employees at Telus Digital (formerly Telus International) in Turkey have been dealing with low wages, psychologically exhausting working conditions, ever-increasing performance targets, a lack of job security and arbitrary dismissals.

Craft VSPs : A Disservice to Canada

Last week, Telus once again issued some 545 so-called voluntary severance packages to craft members. This group includes outside plant construction, cable repair, NOC, engineering, network operations, IP Core, and Transport. These packages were accompanied with the threat of forced relocation should Telus not receive the desired reduction in the areas they want.
