April 7, 2017 - The BC Federation of Labour (BCFED) and the BCFED Health & Safety Centre are seeking young union workers, 18-30 years old, to apply to become facilitators in the “Alive After Five” program.

The goal of this program is to educate young workers and students about their rights in the workplace. Students learn about their rights under the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and how to exercise their rights on the job. The workshop will also expose students to roles and responsibilities of the employer, supervisor and workers by using real-life case studies. Facilitators provide workshops in highschools about workplace health and safety and labour education.

Since 2003, the centre has offered workshops to young workers in highschools and employment programs in communities across the province. Over the past ten years, there have been over 40 young workers from various affiliates trained to deliver these interactive workshops. They have spoken to over 200,000 highschool students in communities across the province.
