Rogers Vancouver and Surrey Bargaining Update #7

Rogers Vancouver and Surrey Update #7 - July 21, 2023

At noon on Friday, July 21st, 2023, your Unit 60 Bargaining Committee formally requested assistance from the Federal Minister of Labour in the form of conciliation services as we work toward renewing a respectable collective agreement that you and your families can depend on.

The Union has been negotiating with the Employer since February 21st, 2023, expending a total of 16 days at the table to this point.

Please reference this chart as a reminder of the timelines of the Conciliation Process.

Unit 60 members have experienced constant challenges to #OurWork during Shaw’s time in the Lower Mainland. Left unchecked, these direct attacks will have a significant impact on #YourFuture, the well being of your families and the communities in which we all live and work.

This is why the time is now to enshrine those thick black lines in our collective agreement to make it a document that will unambiguously serve Unit 60 members now and far into the future, as we know that with clarity comes security. At all of our recent Town Hall meetings, the unequivocal support for this direction left no question to the level of resolve of our membership toward this demand. From our National Local 1944 and District 3 here in British Columbia, to the Canadian National Office in Toronto and the International Headquarters in Pittsburgh – every level of leadership is intimately aware of the gravity of the situation and have pledged all resources at their disposal in support of our aim.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

In solidarity,

Jayson, Steve, Andy, Wallace, Stacey, Curtis, and Corey
