ADT by Telus Bargaining Update #11 - November 2, 2023

USW Local 1944 and ADT by TELUS Calgary reach a Tentative Agreement

Your ADT bargaining committee is pleased to announce we have reached a tentative agreement with the Employer. As a reminder to our members, any agreement on a proposed contract requires that the membership votes to approve the proposed contract. Ratification voting on the proposed contract will occur at 6PM MST on November 16th, and at 9AM MST on November 17th online via Zoom, and you will be sent another bulletin in the coming days with instructions on how to register for one of these online ratification sessions. We strongly encourage all members to attend and to vote. If your shift does not allow you to attend either of these meetings, we encourage you to let us know, and to notify your manager, so we can try to arrange shift accommodations for you.

We met with the Employer and the Mediator from October 30th to November 1st and had several extremely productive days. These sessions began with the Employer making a significant move on how wages are applied to members. This moved us out of the deadlock we had been facing until now.

Your Bargaining Committee feels that this tentative agreement is a win for our members and contains several significant gains. We are recommending that you vote to accept this agreement.
Some key highlights found in the tentative agreement:
- $2250 signing bonus, recognizing the length of time this agreement took, and the raises we believe you should have had during that time.
- Predictable and codified raises on a grid that recognizes your experience and annual bonuses based on performance.
- More predictable schedules, with stable start times, schedules posted at least 4 weeks in advance, and no changes allowed by management within 5 days of your shift without a financial benefit to you.
- Ensuring your two days off each week will be off together unless YOU request otherwise.
- Statutory Holidays, including recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day and Boxing Day.
- Daily overtime regardless of weekly hours.
- A grievance procedure that allows you to have representation to resolve workplace issues.
- A 70-page long contract that limits management power in the workplace, gives you a voice and rights well above the minimum standards in the Alberta Employment Standards Code.

Again, your Bargaining Committee thanks you for your patience, support, and commitment to being #InItTogether, through this long and often difficult process. We are excited to share the proposed contract in its entirety with you at the ratification meetings.

Solidarity!
