Lots of Education

For members interested in learning more about the bargaining process, we offer Bargaining 101, an afternoon and evening course that provides a more in-depth look at how a bargaining round works. It’s about what bargaining looks like, why member participation matters, and how members can be prepared. Sign up here.

We also have a Resolutions Course, which teaches how to write resolutions (official requests for action) that can be passed at a Unit meeting and sent to the Local Union Delegated Meeting or to the Executive Board. This is a key mechanism for members to be able to direct what actions the Local should take. Sign up here.

Ericsson Bargaining has Begun

Bargaining began last Wednesday for the largest of our recently organized certifications, our national Ericsson Field Technicians. There are approximately 190 technicians in this Unit. As is common in the first day of bargaining, the committees agreed on some ground rules and exchanged a first round of proposals around topics such as the scope of the agreement, roles and responsibilities of the Union, a Grievance process, Health and Safety under the Federal Code, management rights and job security. Both parties have exchanged proposals and will be meeting again in August.
