VSPs for TBS and ADT: Telus announced another round of Voluntary Severance Packages, offering them to over 500 members nationally within the Telus Business Solutions (TBS) team, and offering them to 8 ADTbyTelus workers. With Telus’ CCTS complaints up 62% in 2025 compared to 2024, cutting more jobs isn’t going to help. Please see our hotline on this news here and please contact your Steward, Local Rep or contact@usw1944.ca if you feel you are being put under undue pressure to take a package.

Performance Bonus rollback: Telus announced that the median Individual Component of the Performance Bonus will now be an 80% score instead of a 100% score. Now, no matter how well members perform as a whole, on average we will not be meeting target because of how the math is now done. Please see our hotline on this news here.

While we’re reviewing this with legal counsel, the fact is that we need more of our current non-wage pay and benefits guaranteed under the Collective Agreement, as the company has shown us that it wants to cut virtually any form of monetary benefit that isn’t guaranteed by 100% clear language in the Agreement. If you want these petty and insulting rollbacks to end, please be involved in our bargaining actions coming soon, including participating in the Bargaining Committee nomination process which began Monday for Telus and will begin Thursday for ADTbyTelus.

Bargaining throughout the Local: The bargaining process is warming up throughout Local 1944. Not only did Telus Bargaining Committee nominations open this Monday, but so did Ericsson Bargaining Committee nominations for our 200 Ericsson field technicians negotiating their first Collective Agreement. ADTbyTelus Bargaining Committee nominations begin Thursday, to negotiate their 2nd Collective Agreement.

Our newest members at Captec Americas elected their Bargaining Committee last Monday, congrats to technicians Rohan Patel and Shubham Shah. This week Staff Rep Jayson Little and Local Rep Steve McWhirter are in Winnipeg training the new Keewatin Air Bargaining Committee of Shawn Page (Respiratory Therapist), Sara Guy (Nurse), and Dayna Johnson (Paramedic). It’s great to see us firing on all cylinders to bargain better conditions in all of these workplaces.

In Solidarity,
