Addressing CEO Darren Entwistle's Request Regarding Mobile Data Use
The Union is compelled to address a troubling communication from CEO Darren Entwistle that was sent on September 24th.
Telus is now requesting that our members restrict their mobile data usage to free up network traffic for other customers— another absurd move by an employer with little respect for working people.
Your Bargaining Committee is pleased to share that, following discussions with Telus executives this past weekend, a tentative agreement has been reached on the outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreement.
March 1, 2022 - The Bargaining Committee would like to address some Company actions and rumors we have been hearing from you, our Local 1944 members. It's important for you to know that during a bargaining year the Company practices may change. What was once acceptable may no longer be. Thus described as the ‘silly season’.
Our Collective Agreement remains in full force and effect. Our members need to know it and enforce it.
Remember if you don't hear it from us, it's likely not true!!
January 25, 2022 - The Bargaining Committee continues to meet and work through the proposals that the Union and Company have put forward.
In this round, we have been able to push the Company to provide specific language much sooner than previous rounds of bargaining. But, sadly, their proposals are still concessionary.
December 2, 2021 - The Union and the Company have continued to meet and discuss each other's proposals for a total of six more days since our last update on October 28, 2021.
October 28, 2021 - As we know, your Local Union has been engaging and listening to you, the members, for months. We all know that Telus is a successful company and has made extraordinary amounts of money during COVID.
Too many of us feel undervalued and not recognized for our collective contribution to Telus’ success.
May 14, 2021 - Your Bargaining Committee continues to meet to review language, build proposals and do the work necessary prior to negotiations with Telus. We had a very successful last few days.
March 29, 2021 - Your Bargaining Committee has met again to review the language and the issues that matter most to you and your families as expressed in your responses to the bargaining survey. In addition, the Bargaining Committee is reviewing all provisions of the Collective Agreement as we continue tobuild proposals and ultimately a comprehensive package that brings your voice to the table.
January 25, 2021 - The Local’s Bargaining Committee representing members at Telus met by Zoom last week. We reviewed the many Bargaining Survey responses that you, the members, submitted. The results laid bare the many struggles and challenges you face in your work, and the large gap between the efforts you put in to your job versus how you are treated and compensated by Telus.
