Telus Bargaining Updates

The membership has voted to accept Telus’ latest offer, with 70% voting in favour.

Hello Members,

By working relentlessly since launching our #RiseUP campaign, we’ve made many gains for our members and our families, including:

Your Bargaining Committee is pleased to share that, following discussions with Telus executives this past weekend, a tentative agreement has been reached on the outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Despite repeated attempts, Telus has persistently declined to resume negotiations, leaving us with no alternative but to take decisive action. Your Bargaining Committee is therefore seeking your support in a call to STRIKE, if a negotiated agreement cannot be reached.
Your Union is stronger and more united than it has been in 17 years thanks to your support and solidarity, therefore we have a wide array of options to escalate pressure on the employer. It’s up to the Company to determine how far we need to go to make them offer you a fair deal.
After two weeks of meetings with the membership, the votes are in: By an almost two-to-one margin, 65.3% of voting members have voted “No” to Telus’ offer. Just as importantly, 79.8% of members registered to vote, with 72.7% having cast a ballot. Despite an extreme and unprecedented amount of management pressure to support the offer, members have now clearly told Telus that they deserve more.

We have taken down our wage calculator because some technical issues with it have come to light. However, we would like to address some confusion regarding the Company’s offer. While they are advertising 5.5% in the first year of the contract and a $10,000 lump sum, this is not entirely accurate. The table below illustrates the Company’s monetary proposal:

By now, you may have received a proposed collective agreement from Telus, which they believe that you will settle for and accept this substandard offer. We believe this offer should be firmly rejected as Telus can do better.
