Telus Bargaining Update #19

Telus Bargaining Update #19  - October 7, 2022

Today your Bargaining Committee met with Telus CEO Darren Entwistle, and we were joined by USW District 3 Director, Scott Lunny.

We brought your voice to the table. We delivered your dissatisfaction with the current offer and have managed to push Telus off some smaller concessions.

While the conversation with Darren Entwistle was respectful, Telus nonetheless followed the same pattern, making small moves on monetary offers to distract from the real issues.

During our conversation, Telus has threatened to bargain directly with our members which is potentially bargaining in bad faith.

You will receive an email from Telus disclosing a package deal including a monetary offer. This monetary offer is simply a distraction from the other key issues at the table.

We want our members to know this offer is still disrespectful.

Wage Freeze in Year 1. (No retroactivity)
3.0% in Year 2
2.5% in Year 3
2.0% in Years 4-6
All with a lump sum of $5000 (approximately $3000 after tax) in Year 1 and 2.

We ask for your patience while we review Telus’ latest offer in detail but they do not need the concessions that they still have on the table. We want assurances on job security as well as a fair and reasonable monetary offer. Therefore, our expectation is that Telus returns to the bargaining table to bargain with YOUR Committee and not directly with the membership.

With your 97% Strike Mandate Vote, we know you have our backs.
