Bargaining Update #7
The Union and Company Bargaining Committees met several times throughout the month of November and while we did not get as much movement as we had hoped, we do want to provide an update to you as we have met for the final time this calendar year.
Bargaining an initial Collective Agreement is a very long process, and though it is taking a long time, please know that this Committee is resolute in their goal of bringing you a fair and respectful agreement. We do have several more dates set in the New Year.
We are pleased to share that we have reached agreements on several non-monetary items including, but not limited to, language around Domestic Violence, Health and Safety, Seniority and Company Service, and Accommodations. We were able to move the Company off of their initial insistence on using temporary employees, ensuring only full/part-time employees are hired.
Both Committees understand and acknowledge how unique the Monitoring department is and as such have created a separate Monitoring Appendix for that group that is coming along.
We appreciate how difficult the past few years have been and we are right here with you. Please continue to show support for your Bargaining Committee as we are ardently demanding respect for you at the table.
The Bargaining Committee will be hosting an Open House in mid-January as well, to meet with you and answer any questions that you have for us. Make sure that your CAT primes have your contact information so that they can pass along the details of that to you!
If you’re interested in participating more with the bargaining process, please email adtcat@usw1944.ca. We are all stronger when we stick together!!!
