A Bold First Step Forward in Bargaining

Hello members,

Today marks an exciting milestone! Your bargaining committee officially sat down with your employer to initiate negotiations for your very first collective agreement. Representing the employer at the table were: 

  • Geoff O’Leary – General Manager Canada 
  • Pete Straka – VP Human Resources 
  • Lenita Barreira – Senior HR Manager 
  • Shaun Parker – Legal Counsel 

On your behalf, the bargaining committee was proudly represented by: 

  • Jayson Little – USW Staff Representative 
  • Neil Marshall – Local Union Representative 
  • Tanvir Dhariwal – Elected Bargaining Committee Member 
  • Jeff Krause – Elected Bargaining Committee Member 

The conversation was respectful, and your union wasted no time in tabling strong, foundational language for this first agreement. In this initial meeting, we focused on non-monetary items, which is the standard approach. We’ve established a solid foundation on crucial issues like health and safety, the grievance procedure, and more, ready for the many discussions to come.
