Keewatin Air Bargaining Update #6
August 31, 2026
Hello All,
Your bargaining committee; Dayna, Shawn, Sara, Steve, and Jayson have had several meetings over the last week with the Company to continue working towards a collective agreement. We have tabled discussion around:
- Job descriptions
- Minimal Staffing requirements
- Quarantine pay protocols
- Technological changes protections
There have been continued discussions on union representation, seniority, health and safety standards, and new hire language. However, more importantly, your Bargaining Committee is emphatic that the status quo for Hours of Work and the Rolling Duty days are not sustainable. We believe this is contributing to the Company’s inability to retain employees, and current employees are continuing to be frustrated by the lack of progress made by the Company in addressing the concerns.
We have made substantial progress among the other nonmonetary articles throughout this last week and will continue to negotiate agreement on these articles. We have not begun discussions around monetary articles currently but do have a foundation for future article proposals to encompass the members desires.
We are in the process of scheduling virtual townhall meetings with your Bargaining Committee to discuss progress and answer questions.
Please stay tuned for dates and upcoming solidarity campaigns. Your support will make all the difference!
In Solidarity,
Dayna, Shawn, Sara, Jayson and Steve
