Hello Keewatin Air members, Yesterday, was the first day of bargaining. We met with the company’s bargaining team. In attendance on the company side was John Kliewer, Debbie Moriaux, Cathy Penner, and Devin Wehrle as their chief spokesperson. In attendance as your committee was Sara Guy, Dayna Johnson, Shawn Page, Steve McWhirter (Local Union Rep) and Jayson Little (USW Staff Rep) serving as spokesperson for the Union. As is customary in bargaining, both parties opened with introductions, protocols and then tabled what is viewed as non-contentious items. These are often the non-monetary proposals that are the framework that other proposals get tabled as bargaining progresses. The parties agree that they will approach bargaining in good faith and have both tabled several foundational articles (like grievances, health and safety, seniority, discipline removal and the roles of stewards) that we will be assessing and preparing counter-arguments for before we meet again. The committees have booked additional days for March 16, 17 and 19, 2026 to continue bargaining. We would like to remind everyone that bargaining is often a long process. We commit to being as transparent as possible, and your committee will work together to provide you with regular updates about the status of bargaining. #WeFlyCriticalMissions – Treat Us Like It! In solidarity, Your Bargaining Committee Sara Guy, Shawn Page, Dayna Johnson, Steve McWhirter, Jayson Little |
