Ericsson Bargaining Update #5

Hello Ericsson USW members:

Today your elected bargaining committee met with the employer’s committee.

Representing the Union are:

• Jayson Little (USW National Staff Representative)
• Steve McWhirter (Local Union Representative)
• Alexander Livingston (Local Union Representative)
• Dan Brueckner (field tech from District 6)
• Brian Ouellette (field tech from District 5)
• Kyle Strangward (field tech from District 3)

Representing the Employer is:

• Trevor Lawson (external legal)
• Tish Lewis (external legal)
• Gloria Taylor Lewis (Human resources)
• Sarah Saver (management)
• Arron Wight (management)

As is common in the first day of bargaining, the committees agreed on some ground rules and exchanged a first round of proposals around topics such as the scope of the agreement, roles and responsibilities of the Union, a Grievance process, Health and Safety under the Federal Code, management rights and job security.

We have future dates set in mid-August and while discussions are off to a good start, this is going to be a long process. Since the Union tabled a very comprehensive agreement compared to what the employer tabled, the majority of responses at the next session will be from the employer side.

We will continue to update as we have information to share and are excited by the ongoing solidarity that you have shown us!
