Captec Bargaining Update #5

Hello Captec members,
Over the last couple of weeks, your bargaining committee has continued meeting with the Company and has made steady progress toward reaching your first collective agreement.
The parties have now reached agreement on several important foundational provisions, including:
The purpose and recognition of the Union
Non-discrimination protections
Strike and Lockout provisions
Health and safety protections
The provision of tools and equipment
Throughout bargaining, proposals have also been tabled and discussed concerning grievance and arbitration procedures, job postings, paid and unpaid leaves, access to personnel files, seniority and recall rights, vacation, job classifications, contracting-out protections, and technological change, including artificial intelligence and automation.
While some language items remain outstanding, the majority is close to being finalized. With much of the foundation of the agreement taking shape, your committee has now tabled its initial monetary package. We are waiting to receive and assess the Company’s response at our next bargaining session.
This marks an important stage in the bargaining process. Your committee will continue advocating for fair wages, compensation, and working conditions that recognize the value of the work performed by Captec members.
In addition, the Union and the Company are in ongoing discussions about the potential of the work site being relocated and possible severance options. We will continue to keep you informed as talks progress.
