Telus Business Solutions VSPs
Hello All,
On January 7th, Telus announced another round of VSPs, offering them to over 500 members nationally within the Telus Business Solutions (TBS) team. As well, VSPs have been offered to approximately 80 members of SAMT and 80 members of SQET-5044, two of Telus’ Unions in Quebec. Most of these members have rejected VSPs, in some cases multiple times, over the last several years, but the company is asking once more.
Canadians have been expressing growing dissatisfaction with the quality of service that they’re receiving from telecommunications companies, with Telus CCTS complaints up 62% in 2025 compared to 2024. Further job cuts from to Telus Business Services will only make things worse for Canadian businesses.
Who’s Affected?
TBS organization (including call centres, wireless and wireline, and network assurance teams).
National Business Delivery (NBD) technicians are included in this round.
Positions in BC, AB, ON and QC are affected.
What’s the Timeline?
Those receiving a package will have until Jan 21st to make their decision.
Departures are set to begin mid-February.
For some, there may be redeployment opportunities, but this depends on how many members take the package.
The Federal Government continues to talk about stagnating Canadian productivity, yet they have regulatory oversight over telecoms like Telus that are cutting quality of service to the bone for businesses in this country. That means:
-longer wait times on the phone
-speaking to more agents until they get someone who has the skill to solve their problem
-delays in booking a technician
-being told by their provider to try using self-help first
USW Local 1944 will continue to call out this kind of disservice to Canadians and to our economy. In our Local’s consistent lobbying efforts, we demand that the federal government only subsidize and contract with those telecom companies that help move our economy forward, while they should be demanding accountability from telecom companies like Telus that are trying to squeeze dollars and cents out of other Canadian businesses.
In Solidarity,
USW Local 1944
