USW Local 1944 is outraged that Telus has chosen this time, when we are already reeling from the ongoing payroll error disaster, to roll back your health benefits. As previously announced by the Company, paramedical coverage will be rolled back from 100% to 80%, dental copayment for plan options 4 and 5 will be rolled back from 100% to 80% and Long-Term Disability Benefits rates are up 12%, while the total amount of Health Dollars has been rolled back for the first time in many years. Again, Telus insists on cutting corners, and nickel and diming where it can, at the expense of the members who make the Company run and generate shareholder profits.
On Tuesday, Local 1944 filed a Telus-wide Policy Grievance seeking to put a halt to this health benefits rollback and over 550 members have signed onto a Group Grievance that has now been filed at the Unit level. Meanwhile, the Local is investigating alternative legal avenues to address this insulting and offensive decision.
