Security Technicians at Securitas Technology join USW Local 1944

Hello members,

USW Local 1944 is proud to welcome the newest members of our family, as technicians at Securitas Technology have filed for certification in British Columbia.

Local 1944 President Michael Phillips warmly welcomed these technicians to the union, stating, "Skilled workers at Securitas were looking for strong union representation to secure a real voice in determining their working conditions, achieve better compensation, and reduce arbitrary treatment from management. They achieve exactly that by joining the United Steelworkers. Local 1944 looks forward to working with this highly motivated group to establish a solid foundation for a strong future in a growing industry. This begins with negotiating their first collective agreement—a task we are eager to commence as soon as possible."

Securitas Technology installs and services alarm systems, CCTV, access control, LPR, intercoms, and other related products. Recently, field technicians in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island reached out to explore joining the USW. They realized that they would be better off united in their dealings with their employer, resulting in one of our fastest campaigns ever for reaching the threshold for having union cards signed.

Are you or someone you care about interested in exploring how a union can bring balance to your workplace? Reach out—let's start that conversation: usw.ca/join
