September 3, 2021 - “As mentioned previously, bargaining with Telus will start next month.
We have been encouraging members to get involved, in every Unit, in every workplace, whether that means attending your Unit Meetings, signing up for training, participating in PUMA campaigns, and so on.
We’re seeing member participation on the increase in every way, but we need to keep this pace going if we’re going to achieve a better Collective Agreement for all of us. That means not only attending a meeting, but bringing someone else along. That means not only participating in PUMA campaigns but getting your whole team to join you and support each other.
The minute bargaining with our biggest employer starts, EVERY MEMBER’s activism is absolutely necessary for ALL OF US to get improvements at work. Even if you aren’t a Telus worker, a strong Union getting a stronger Collective Agreement for Telus workers will demonstrate to your own employer that we are a force in bargaining. The outcome of these negotiations will have an impact on everyone.
This Labour Day is a time to recharge your batteries for the challenges ahead, while reflecting on the fights and activism that workers before us engaged in to bring about the rights and privileges we enjoy today. While we stand on the shoulders of these labour giants, we have to ask ourselves, what legacy will we leave to those that follow in our footsteps? We must commit to hard-core activism and put our dreams for a better world into concrete actions to ensure they are realized. Remember no one wins until everyone wins. We are stronger together!
This fight is ours to win.
#RiseUp #LevonsNous
This Labour Day, show your activism, and please take a moment to participate in a Labour Day event or action organized by a labour council near you.
The strength of our Local Union starts with YOU. Stay safe and healthy, stay strong and get involved.”
