Dear Members,
We have been dealing with prolific payroll issues for well over a year. I want to acknowledge the frustration this is causing many of you. Despite ongoing discussions with Telus, these errors persist, and the situation remains unacceptable.
Countless issues remain. Members have informed us that even the November 27th pay cycle contained incorrect Stat Pay as well as discrepancies concerning hours worked.
What You Need to Do:
Haven’t Filed a Grievance Yet?
- Begin by investigating the issue with your manager and askHR.
- If the response is unsatisfactory, file a grievance with any Shop Steward using the digital grievance form at go/dgf. Remember, we’re no longer using the old payroll grievance forms.
Already Filed a Grievance?
- There’s no need to file another. However, it is critical to start an investigation with payroll to ensure they are aware of the issue.
The overarching problem here is trust. After so many months of errors, even “corrected” numbers have proven to be unreliable. Telus continues to assure us that their reports are accurate, but members auditing their own hours have uncovered discrepancies. In fact, even responses from AskHR have contained inaccuracies.
This lack of confidence is deeply concerning, and we have made your discontent clear to Telus. With an arbitration date on this seemingly perpetual payroll issue approaching in the new year, we will be demanding a full audit to ensure accuracy. This is a necessary step to rebuilding trust and resolving these issues once and for all.
For those being asked to repay advances, while the Union can’t make this decision for you, if I were in your position, I would be only repaying the minimum amount possible while awaiting the outcome of the upcoming arbitration.
We are advocating for a fair and reasonable resolution for all members.
While this process has been far too drawn out, I want to assure you that we are moving forward. Every grievance, every investigation brings us closer to a resolution.
Thank you for your ongoing patience.
In solidarity,
Ross Brown
