Members in Ontario are invited to become facilitators for the USW’s Be More Than a Bystander Program

October 26, 2021 - Would you like to become a facilitator and spokesperson who breaks the silence on gender-based violence in your community?

The USW is partnering with the Canadian Football League Players’ Association (CFLPA) on a ground-breaking initiative to “break the silence” surrounding violence against women and girls.

Designed for male members in Ontario who wish to become facilitators, this training will equip them to deliver presentations to members of Local 1944, other USW activists, area councils, and workplaces. The program will be providing tools, language and practical ideas about how to speak up and how to communicate that violence and abuse is not acceptable.

Unions are involved in raising awareness and understanding the impact of gender-based violence because it can put workplaces at risk. This is why union members must speak up and break the silence around violence against women.

Submit your online application by Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Applicants will be invited to a one-on-one interview to talk more about the program and their strengths and suitability, and those ultimately selected as spokesmen will attend a training session to be held early in 2022 in Ontario. Members will be reimbursed for costs related to participation in the training.

In Solidarity,
