Local 1944 Members,
Our brothers and sisters from Unit 60 working at Rogers Communications (formerly Shaw) in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, and Langley served 72-hour strike notice to their employer on Friday in an effort to achieve a fair collective agreement. After 26 days at the Table over the past nine months, Unit 60 members remain resolute in their refusal to live in a world where they can lose their jobs and watch contractors continue to do their work. The Strike Notice let the company know that we’d begin a series of rotating strikes next week.
In response, Rogers has issued a lockout notice to these members, with a lockout set to begin Monday at noon.
If you’re in the Lower Mainland, watch for picket lines around the area. Stay tuned to hear how members in the Lower Mainland, and across the country, can help our members at Rogers gain a respectful Collective Agreement.
Your support will go a long way to assist in their efforts.
In Solidarity,
USW Local 1944
