October 1, 2021 - On Wednesday, USW Local 1944 conducted nominations for the 2021 USW International Elections, to determine who, if anyone, Local 1944 would nominate for offices of the USW International Executive Board.

Prior to the vote, nomination forms had been received for two candidates for the office of District 3 (Western Canada) Director as follows:

Scott Lunny – 21 forms received
Stephen Hunt – One form received

The result of the nomination vote on Wednesday for this position was as follows:

Scott Lunny – 202 votes - Nominated
Stephen Hunt – 47 votes
No nominee – 9 votes

As well, the following candidates had been nominated for the following positions on one nomination form: 

Candidate for International President: Thomas M. Conway
Candidate for International Secretary-Treasurer: John E. Shinn
Candidate for International Vice President (Administration): David McCall
Candidate for International Vice President (Human Affairs): Fred Redmond
Candidate for National Director of Canada: Marty Warren
Candidate for International Vice President at Large: Roxanne Brown
Candidate for International Vice President: Leeann Foster

The results of the nomination vote on Wednesday for these positions are as follows:

Yes – 204 votes, No – 35 votes - Nominated

Candidate for International Secretary-Treasurer: John E. Shinn
Yes – 202 votes, No – 24 votes - Nominated

Candidate for International Vice President (Administration): David McCall
Yes – 199 votes, No – 26 votes - Nominated

Candidate for International Vice President (Human Affairs): Fred Redmond
Yes – 206 votes, No – 22 votes - Nominated

Candidate for National Director of Canada: Marty Warren
Yes – 221 votes, No – 23 votes - Nominated

Candidate for International Vice President at Large: Roxanne Brown
Yes – 217 votes, No – 17 votes - Nominated

Candidate for International Vice President: Leeann Foster
Yes – 214 votes, No – 16 votes - Nominated

The International Executive Board elections will also include the positions of District 5 Director (Quebec) and District 6 Director (Ontario and Maritimes), however no nomination forms were received regarding these positions and so Wednesday's nomination vote did not include any balloting on these positions.
