Hello Members,

USW Local 1944 is now offering an evening course on what resolutions are, how they are written and passed at Union meetings, and how you can use them to make change in the union

A resolution is how members formally raise issues, propose changes, and push action at the union level.

It’s one of the direct tools members have to influence policy, priorities, and decisions made by the Executive Board.

This course was written and will be taught by our NextGen Committee, with practical examples from Local 1944.

You’ll learn:

  • What a resolution actually is (in plain language)
  • When a resolution is the right tool — and when it isn’t
  • How resolutions move from your Unit to the Executive Board

How resolutions can:

  • Address problems in your workplace
  • Push education, engagement, or policy changes
  • Make sure member concerns are formally answered

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I don’t know how to raise this issue”
  • “How can members direct the Local to do something? ”
  • “I want to be more involved but don’t know where to start”

This course is for you!

Dates:

  • Tuesday, January 27 at 4:30PM PST, 5:30PM MST, 7:30pm EST
  • Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00PM PST, 8:00pm MST
  • Thursday, February 26 at 6:00PM PST, 8:00pm MST
  • Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00PM EST (This course will be offered in French)
