Creating our Bargaining Committee - Ericsson
Hello Ericsson members,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the United Steelworkers!
Our Union has a long history of protecting workers rights, improving wages and working conditions through the process of Collective Bargaining.
Nominations for the Bargaining Committee will begin today, January 12,2026 and will close January 25, 2026.
To be eligible to run in this election or cast a ballot, you must be a member of the Local, having completed either a union card or a membership form.
If you are unsure of your membership status, please complete the membership form here and email it to contact@usw1944.ca, or contact the office at 604-437-8601 for assistance.
Elections to the Bargaining Committee follow a two-stage process. First, we invite members to submit nominations, either nominating themselves or another member of the Ericsson workgroup. All nominees must formally accept their nomination. Given the geographically dispersed nature of the Ericsson group, nominations will be conducted online through the link provided below.
After the nomination period closes, the Local will confirm acceptance with all nominees. Once confirmed, and if an election is required, all candidates will be placed on a ballot. Each candidate will have the opportunity to submit a brief statement outlining their relevant skills and experience, and why they believe they are the best choice to serve on the Bargaining Committee.
Following the conclusion of the election, the successful candidates will form your committee. Our goal is to ensure the committee reflects the composition of the membership while bringing forward the strongest possible team to represent you at the table.
Your Bargaining Committee will include two USW representatives, USW Staff Representative Jayson Little and Local Union Representative Alex Livingston, with additional support from Local Union Representative Steve McWhirter. Three rank-and-file members will be elected to the committee. The President of the Local retains the authority to appoint additional members should the need arise.
