Collective Agreement with Rogers is Ratified – Lockout Ends

Hello Members,

USW Local 1944 is pleased to announce that a new Collective Agreement for our locked-out Vancouver/Richmond and Surrey/Langley technicians at Rogers has been ratified!

95% of Vancouver/Richmond members and 98% of Surrey/Langley members voted to support the deal, a testament to the membership’s trust in their Bargaining Committee’s recommendation.

Unit 60 members will have spent 16 days locked-out by Rogers before returning to work, and the Local commends the Unit for their courage and solidarity.

Highlights of the deal include:
-14.25% over 5 years, retroactive to March 2023
-A $1,000 signing bonus
-New protections against job loss due to automation
-Backfill language to prevent erosion of the bargaining unit due to attrition
-A commitment to hire more technicians
-A cap on contractor use
-Clearly defined Bargaining Unit jurisdiction
-Enhanced layoff protection
-A new boot allowance
-A new 5% cap on Voluntary Severance Package offerings throughout the life of the Agreement

In Solidarity,

USW Local 1944
