This issue features a message from Secretary-Treasurer Michael Phillips on how the Covid-19 crisis has revealed character. He challenges every member to try to find the energy and time to fight back against employer pressurization. Now is the time to show we can depend on each other by participating in the Union’s campaigns and to #RiseUp for justice at work.

In preparing for the upcoming round of bargaining with Telus, we compiled some facts about the company to which members at Telus will be able to refer in a few months from now, just in case their employer would try to resort to economic or financial excuses to justify delaying the signature of an improved collective agreement. Follow the bargaining updates at https://1944.fyi/bu-telus2021 and contact your bargaining committee at bargaining.committee@usw1944.ca. Show your support on social media using the hashtags #RiseUp and #usw1944. Telus employees: Did you take the Reality Check survey yet? Your participation will be kept confidential and will demonstrate for all to see what we really think of our employer.

Members from Unit 60 Shaw Abbotsford are still fighting for a renewed and improved collective agreement. They gathered for a practice picket rally on February 3rd and once again, showed their strength and unity as a group, and expressed full support to their bargaining team. Members throughout the country are encouraged to show solidarity using the hashtag #NoFear on social media.
