November 19, 2018 - USW Local 1944 encourages our members in British Columbia to make their vote count regarding the proposed electoral reform. The upcoming referendum will decide which of the following four voting systems will be used for future provincial elections in British Columbia:
- First Past the Post (FPTP) – current voting system
- Dual Member Proportional
- Mixed Member Proportional
- Rural-Urban Proportional
The Canadian Labour Congress supports the BC NDP government’s call for change with Proportional Representation. To hear all sides of the debate, get informed with the official proponent, Vote PR BC, and with the Official opponent, the No BC Proportional Representation Society.
If you did not get your voting package yet, don’t forget to update your voter information before Friday, November 23, 2018.
Elections BC must receive your ballot by Friday, December 7, 2018, at 4:30 pm (*** DEADLINE EXTENDED ***). For more information, please visit http://1944.fyi/Ref-Voters-Guide.
