Additional date for Executive Board to hear protests

June 4, 2018 - The USW Local 1944 Executive Board will continue deliberations on the remaining election protests that were filed on Wednesday, June 6th.

The board will meet by videoconferencing and enhanced security measures have been put in place to ensure deliberations will not be compromised again.

This date is in addition to the June 18th-20th dates that were previously voted on by the Executive Board at the conclusion of the May 18th meeting.

As released on May 29th, over 70 protests were filed by members and candidates about actions taken during the election by candidates and others.  This is the most protests filed about one election, at any time in any other Local Union within the United Steelworkers history.

We recognize that members are anxious to see an end to this process.  We will continue to endeavor to move the process along, but we must ensure the process is followed in accordance with the provisions of our Union's Constitution.

In Solidarity,

USW Local 1944
