Shaw Bargaining Update #9
Posted 2018-Jun-21

The United Steelworkers Local 1944 stands behind your right to end participation in the voluntary vehicle take home program.
Recently, Marco Aiello, Manager Regional Operations, and Brad Weller, from the company's bargaining committee, sent a communication to our members about the vehicle take home program. We take exception to parts of their statements. That being said, we do agree that the vehicle take home program is voluntary and the decision to participate is strictly between you and the company. There is no pressure from USW Local 1944 to withdraw your participation from the program. To be clear, USW Local 1944 is in no way directing the workforce. This is your personal decision and we support your decision to participate or not in the program.
If you are feeling harassed, bullied or intimidated by Shaw management to continue with the vehicle take home program against your will, we urge you to speak to a Shop Steward immediately.
As you know, we are in the middle of our Federal Conciliation with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). As we previously communicated, we have had some very frank discussions directed at all of the remaining proposals on the table. Your Bargaining Committee is working diligently to achieve maximum job security for you and your families. We believe that you deserve respect and commitment for the value you bring to Shaw.
Thank you for your continued support. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated at the table.
In Solidarity,
Unit 60 Bargaining Committee
