As promised, here are the details of our membership meetings next week:
Date: Thursday August 10th,
Location: Holiday Inn Windsor Downtown, 430 Ouellette Avenue
Time: Meetings will be held at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm.
Meeting agenda: At the meetings, you will be provided with a copy of Freedom Mobile’s offer, your committee will provide an overview/discussion of the offer and there will be time for Q+A. You will then have time to vote on the offer. You can also decide to come to one of the subsequent meetings on August 10th and vote then.
Committee recommends a No vote: As your committee, we will be recommending that you vote No to the offer, and we will explain why in detail. As you know, our view is that the offer is too weak in terms of wages and financial gains, in terms of respect for the hard work, loyalty and service of employees here in Windsor and in terms of vacation rights, to name only a few.
Also! We’ll be arranging volunteers to possibly be taking our message to the public, with information to hand out at Freedom’s retail locations. We’ll have an upbeat and positive message, encouraging people to buy our services but also reminding them that that Shaw and Freedom can afford more fairness for hard-working Freedom Mobile employees here in Windsor.
Mr. Peters’ email: We do approve of one phrase in Mr. Peters’ email of earlier today. We agree that there is every chance to “bring about a mutually beneficial resolution in advance of” of any deadline for a labour dispute. And with your support we think that will be the case.
Bryan Adamczyk (USW Staff Rep), Jenn Bucholtz, John Hockley (USW National Local Union 1944 Reps), Jasen Gannon, Christian Poisson, Tanya Travis Dunn (elected committee members)
